It all started in early 2024, with the frustration of a small data privacy-conscious software team. We were using popular PDF tools on the internet to edit sensitive documents such as financial reports, contracts, and personal identification documents. However, almost all of these tools uploaded and processed files to their own remote servers. This posed the risk of our data being leaked or stored by third parties. 'Why do we have to send our documents to someone else's computer?' The question laid the foundation of the Pdfoni project. We dreamed of a 100% native and browser-based platform that never leaves your device, and we made this dream a reality by pushing the limits of WebAssembly technology.
Native Power: The WebAssembly Revolution
While traditional websites upload your documents to the server and process them, Pdfoni has completely changed this. Thanks to the WebAssembly (Wasm) technology offered by modern browsers, we have integrated desktop-level PDF rendering engines directly into your browser. In this way, conversion and merging processes are completed locally within milliseconds, using your own computer's processor and memory, rather than on the server. Even if your internet connection goes down, your transactions continue safely.

Since we do not store any user files on our servers, we are completely free from being a target of cyber attackers.
